Somatic Coaching, Rooted in Trauma-Informed Care

Practical, body-based tools for everyday anxiety, stress, and disconnection - grounded in nervous system science.

What is Somatic Coaching?

Somatic coaching works with the body, not just the mind. Instead of only talking through stress and anxiety, it uses movement, breath, band body awareness to help regulate the nervous system directly - because most of us don’t think our way out of a stress response, we feel our way out of it.

This is educational, coaching, not therapy or clinical treatment. It’s a practical framework for understanding for your own nervous system and building tools you can use in real time.

The Science Behind It

Stress and anxiety aren’t just “in your head” - they’re physiological. Dr. Stephen Porgee’s Polyvagal Theory offers a map for what’s happening in the body: the autonomic nervous system shifting into flight, fight, freeze, or fawn in response to a perceived threat, whether that threat is a difficult conversation, a packed schedule, or an old pattern resurfacing.

Somatic coaching translates this science into language and tools you can actually use - grounding practices, movement, and breathwork that help shift the body out of survival mode.

How This Is Different From “Just Relax”

Telling a dyregulated nervous system to relax doesn’t work - the body needs something to do, not just something to hear. Somatic coaching starts from a different premise; real regulation comes through the body, through movement and practice, not willpower alone.
